A Crutch in Life

The Crutches in our lives. Few but special, They too can become a hurdle to a better tomorrow.

A "crutch" is usually a person or something of significance. I say so because that's what crutches are to those who aren't able, Significant. Whether it's a boyfriend/girlfriend that helps you financially, a friend that supports you emotionally or even that individual who grounds you spiritually. A person of significance in our lives has the potential to make us feel like without them, we cannot survive.

When you pray, God answers immediately, receiving what you've prayed however, is what takes time. This is because in order to receive, there needs to be space in your life for that that you've asked God for.

A relationship with God requires you to let go of that that you depend on the most.
I chose to write about crutches because I have realised that trusting God is no easy task, we struggle to trust Him because of the crutches we have in our lives.

The prayer for better, is usually what invites God into your life. When he arrives, the first thing he does is spring-cleaning - starting with the things/people you rely on the most. This process is done in a very subtle but noticeable manner, whereby your crutches become less and less significant, He does that by empowering you more and more each day until you don't need their "help" anymore. The moment you become aware of the extent you rely on that person/thing or realise that you actually capable of surviving without their "help" - know that the cleaning is in motion.

Here's what I learned about the crutches in my life, do not wait for God to fully take away your "crutch" before you attempt to live without one. Put the crutch down yourself, Let go of that thing or person you feel you need in your life. Truly I tell you, God will gladly step in and take over. He is capable and unlike people, He doesn't expect anything in return - His support is free, not time-limited nor does it make you feel like "without it you won't survive".

I understand that letting go of what you've dearly held onto for so long is not easy, but as life goes on you will begin to notice how 'letting go' of the crutches in your life is a necessary step in receiving all that you ask from God.

Embark on a journey, learn to depend on God - It will change your life for the better, one day at a time.

This is just a leaf from my tree, a hopeful attempt at setting you free.
